Ordering & Pricing
Is there a minimum order?
These are just guidelines. Please contact us if you are unsure; we are always willing to help.
Water-Based and Plastisol screen printing (including speciality inks) is invoiced for a minimum of 10 units. You can print fewer units, but your invoice will be for 10 units regardless.
Discharge screen printing has a MOQ of 50 units.
DTF has no MOQ. You are invoiced for the number of prints.
Embroidery has a MOQ of 10 units and Embroidery Badges a MOQ of 25 units.
Silicone Rubber Badges have a MOQ of 25 units.
CMT work has a MOQ of 30 units for your first order with us. After that, the MOQ is 50 units per style.
For Corporate Wear & Gifts, Workwear, Safety Gear, Footwear, Headwear, Enamel Badges, Stickers, Vinyl or anything not listed above, please contact us for details.
How much will my order cost?
Every order is custom, so we quote each job individually. Price depends on the design (number of colours and print positions), garment type or item, ink type and quantity. Larger quantities bring the unit price down.
Request a quote with as much detail as you can and we’ll come back to you.
What information do you need for a quote?
- Your artwork and the size you would like the branding to be. If you don’t know the size, let us know and we will advise.
- The number of units.
- If you are supplying the garments or items to be branded, or if you would like Mosstuff to supply them.
- Your deadline, if you have one.
- If there are any finishes you would like, e.g., labels, swing tags, folding and bagging, bar-coding etc.
Use our own order form or yours, as long as it has all of the above.
How do I pay?
For Screen Print orders only, i.e., where you supply the garments and / or items and Mosstuff only does the branding, there is no deposit needed.
All orders are COD. A deposit gets your order into production, and the invoice must be paid in full before goods leave the factory. That includes partial collections. Credit terms are only by written agreement.
Turnaround
How long does an order take?
Our standard turnaround is 5–7 working days, if capacity allows. The clock starts once we have a completed order form, approved artwork, the deposit and the garments at our factory.
From October to December it can stretch to 10–15 working days, so plan ahead. Oversized prints, higher colour counts, multiple print positions and speciality inks can also take longer. Turnaround doesn’t include shipping.
If you have a deadline, please make us aware so we can plan accordingly.
I need it faster. Can you rush my order?
Often, yes, subject to our production team’s approval:
- Rush (3–5 working days): add 25–75%, depending on the job
- Super rush (2 working days): add 50–100% or more
Rush fees cover overtime, meals and transport for our team when they work after hours. Let us know your deadline when you order.
Artwork & Colour
What artwork files do you accept?
Best: Adobe Illustrator (vector, all text converted to outlines) or Photoshop (layered if possible, at least 300 dpi), sized to print.
If you can’t supply those, in order of preference: vector or high-resolution PDF (text outlined), PNG, then high-resolution JPEG.
Screen prints are only as good as the artwork. If your files need work, we can prepare them for you at an hourly rate, and we’ll give you an estimate first.
How do you match my brand colours?
We mix inks to PANTONE Solid Coated codes using colour-mixing software. PANTONE codes give the most accurate match. We can also work from HEX, CMYK or RGB values, or a physical sample.
Please note that no matter which colour system you use to communicate your colours to us, all colours get converted to PANTONE Solid Coated. Conversions are never a 100% match. Please use pantonecolors.net to check the conversions before submitting your colours for branding.
NOTE: Pantonecolors.net has many tools listed in the drop-down menu under Color Tools. Use the tool that works best for your needs, e.g., HEX to PANTONE or RGB to PANTONE.
Garment colour, fabric and temperature all affect how colours print, so a 5–10% variation is normal across the industry.
Plastisol Ink is generally the easiest to colour-match consistently. Water-Based Ink needs more attention to the fabric and drying / curing. Water-Based Ink dries darker on light fabrics and lighter on dark fabrics. Discharge Ink adds another variable: how the garment’s dye reacts to the Discharge Agent.
How many colours can you print and how big can a print be?
For screen printing, it depends on the press and the number of colours:
- Manual carousels - up to 6 colours: 540 × 390 mm (A2)
- Manual carousels - up to 8 colours: 420 × 300 mm (A3)
- Automatic press - up to 10 colours: 490 × 360 mm (A3+)
- Table Top - up to 4 colours: +/- 1000 × 1000 mm (depending on the job)
DTF has no limit on the number of colours. DTF is printed on running metres, so the DTF print can, in theory, be as long as you want. The max width is 550 mm.
Anything bigger than A3 counts as Oversized. We strongly recommend a sample print first, and also please note that Oversized prints can result in a 1.5× longer turnaround time.
Do you do puff, metallic and other speciality inks?
Yes: Puff, High-Density (HD), Metallics, Suede, Glow in the Dark, Discharge, Shimmer, Glitter, Foiling, Nylobag, as well as High Res Halftone and CMYK prints.
Because these effects vary, we strongly recommend approving a sample first. Samples are charged at a fixed rate starting from R 350 plus the set-up costs.
Garments & Quality
Can I supply my own garments?
Yes. Please send a few extra units in case of rejects, and label everything clearly with your job card reference. Items are counted when they reach our production floor.
We can also supply the garments for you, which is usually the easiest route.
What if some prints come out wrong?
Screen printing is a craft and a small margin of error is normal in the industry. We allow a 2% to 5% reject allowance per print position, depending on the ink used (minimum 3 units on orders under 100), and one garment is used as a strike-off for colour and quality checks. Ordering a few extras per size is a good idea.
How do you check quality?
We have a dedicated QC team that inspects every item prior to release. We also do a wash test after every print job to confirm the ink is properly cured. After collection you have 5 working days to do your own checks and wash tests. If anything’s wrong, bring the order back for inspection.
Can you reprint an earlier order?
Absolutely. We keep samples of previous runs in our sampling room and match new runs against them, so reprints stay consistent.
Collection
Where do I collect my order?
From our workshop at 8 Briar Rd, Salt River, Cape Town, Monday to Friday, 9:30–16:30. Orders are packed with the standard printer’s fold, grouped per size. Individual bagging and custom packing are available at extra cost.
